Restaurant Cafe Zum Schwaigerhof in Kochel am See

Very friendly staff. Although the hotel is not necessarily the newest, the staff, through their attention and love, did everything great, so that we will come back anytime. Food was great. Everything fresh and very tasty. We are coming again next year!

We wanted to spontaneously book a room on site going to lunch. Through this we went through the restaurant entrance (the restaurant was closed, but the door was still open). We were promptly chased out by a yapping sheepdog. I don't know what criteria are used to select customers here, but we were apparently not suitable. That could have gone really wrong. 5/5 for the work of the “watchdog” in broad daylight, who even wants to do his job despite the doors being open. 0/5 for the owners who know no responsibility. Nobody followed the dog to calm him down. Take care if you want to book a room. Maybe better to call beforehand ...

Hotel of horror! A few years ago we were there twice and were really impressed. Then yesterday we were there for 1 night and it presented a picture of horror. There is no expression at all. The whole house smelled of cigarette smoke, a smoker says, dirty - disgusting, mold on the ceiling in the room (probably water damage on the floor above, which was barely covered with a large board), window panes torn, broken furniture, the floor a ruin, broken Mirror ... terrible and sad at the same time. When reserving a room by telephone, it was explained that the restaurant would not have opened due to Corona. The only thing missing is the "Go". Unfortunately, I then read a large newspaper report on site that the old lady, the owner, is not allowed to open the restaurant because of spoiled food (she seems to have been convicted twice for this in court) That's where the fun ends for me. We didn't even want to take part in breakfast and went to have breakfast elsewhere after leaving. Unfortunately, I was too disgusted. The story of the family and the Schwaigerhof is very sad, but nothing justifies such a mess (serving shimmering and rotten food). A NO GO! Conclusion ... we were definitely there for the last time.

Unfortunately, I can only confirm the allegations. The egg cups used were only briefly cleaned, the teapots were partly dirty and the rooms weren't vacuumed. At least there was still dust everywhere with us and the floor was also dirty. The rooms on the 2nd floor are totally next to them, the ones on the 1st floor are very nice. For the fact that the hotel has such a bad rating, it was very busy. The dog reported here was, however, peaceful. The older couple don't seem to care much about the reviews. At least there was WiFi and it didn't rain inside either. For € 35 per person that's okay. Hence 3 stars.

The location of the hotel is excellent. We had a spacious room with a view of the Herzogstand and the lake, the staff was very friendly and the breakfast buffet was extensive and quite varied for the price category. There is a certain renovation potential, but the price / performance ratio was absolutely great.

We stayed at the Schwaigerhof for one night on our way to Lake Garda. I don't recommend it. Unfortunately we only read the reviews and an article in the local press on arrival. The very old landlady is friendly and the breakfast was okay, as was the old-fashioned but very charming guest room where breakfast was served. The negative points below to keep it short: - Hotel from the outside + grounds make an unkempt and desolate appearance - Room furnishings are old, not bad in themselves, but also partly broken and not functional - Rooms are only superficially cleaned, lots of dusty surfaces (e.g. lampshade, mirror edge, television) and old cobwebs in the corners - Bathroom itself was okay at first, but the corners and edges of the shower cubicle were covered with black mold, the shower head was calcified - Bed linen clean but partly with smaller holes, half-torn buttons, etc. - when we arrived there was only one Hungarian helper who unfortunately didn't speak a word of German or English. Fortunately, we were able to find out the most important things with our hands and feet. There is no question that this person cannot help it and that the "personnel supply" is very scarce. But at least one slip of paper with the most important information (departure, breakfast, key, etc.) should be made available as a copy by the owners / managers to be passed on to the guests. - last point, and it doesn't work !: We went for a short walk and had something to eat in the evening elsewhere in the village. On our return to the hotel, a well-fed black German shepherd came barking towards us from the entrance. and stopped about three feet in front of us with a mixture of low barking and slight growling. He then ran on to a neighboring meadow. Later I wanted to go back to the car to get something. The animal sat at the bottom of the stairs and began to growl and bark again when it saw me. I don't know about dogs, but I don't think it was all meant to be friendly and totally harmless. Then left it and went back into the room. The same game the next morning on the way to breakfast. Fortunately, he then disappeared in the direction of the back room, presumably to the owner, because she was not to be seen both times. Even if I did, I don't think they would have been able to call the dog back.

I can not confirm the negative reviews, for the price I was fully satisfied. However, I only stayed there and ate elsewhere in town. My room was simple but clean and the location on the lake is excellent.

Underground ... grumpy service. Forget our food completely. Children get in the end. Salad bar had 3 old green cucumber slices over ...

Terrible! All rooms are filthy, staff extremely neglected and you can get everything in the toilets! I've never seen such a dirty inn! You have to avoid that!

Very cozy hotel. I only had lunch but the situation is dreamy, near the Walchensee.

No stars for this place... I didn't use the hotel, luckily I've just visited the restaurant. It's a complete disaster. The place is dirty and the waiter grumpy. The food was horrible. After eating it we where really wondering if anyone of the family will get sick (no one did). Food was oily and greasy, terrible. Unfortunately there is no internet there and impossible to see the reviews there BEFORE entering. Horrible, horrible, horrible! Such a great location and absolutely no love to keep the place in a good shape. Annnnnd they take only cash... no credit cards, no EC cards. The waiter responded that at reception there is a sign telling they do not accept cards. I didn't enter trough the reception, unfortunately, otherwise I would have turned out without eating there. A SHAME! Mi visit to this horror show was on Wednesday 1st of January 2020.

If you have internet here in town and read this, go on ... Everything is very strange here. Had after eating and later reading the comments here, worried about our health. Tablecloths and served dirty. Food swims in fat and didn't taste at all. Prices very cheap .... why ... Waiter friendly. Kitchen is a disaster ...

We did not even enter the restaurant. First impression: a man from the kitchen staff in the smoker break urinating with a view towards the parking lot in the garden. Deterrent and disgusting!

Someone was smoking in the bottom room, and we were sniffing. Good place but the owners are very old and probably unable to properly serve the hotel.

NEVER AGAIN! Super bad restaurant. The service was rude, had a hole in his pants and broken shoes. The table including seat pads was very dirty. The terrace was very messy. There was a hair to be found in the food.

Food is cheap, but perhaps the quality matches it... the staff was so rude I had change thrown at me with not even a thank you or a good evening.

Good view in front of lake. But food taste and variants are unacceptable. We ordered 5 dishes from Menu, but three of them are not served. We visited exactly in lunch time when variants should be a lot. Service is bad as well. If you do not ask waiter, they will not come. Payment can be done only by Cash.

Can only comment on the coffee and views of the lake. Decent espresso and lovely view of the lake from across the road. Wouldn’t particularly want to stay there overnight as could do with updating inside.

Affordable food with a great view of the lake.

Here time has stopped. Have arrived in the beer garden. Staff friendly and we were served quickly. The portions were large and tasted good. The prices are unbeatable. One may expect a luxury here. From the beer garden you have a view directly on the lake.

The service was friendly, However, it took three attempts until the older gentleman found our table. The salad bar was not very welcoming, tasted like canned salad. The portions were very small. We got a portion of fried potatoes. Not a hit in terms of taste. At the end there was a chocolate bar, which unfortunately had expired.

After all the reviews here, I had a really bad feeling about stopping at this hotel and prepared my wife for it, but I couldn't find anything else that day. After an event on Lake Ammersee, we finally wanted to spend a night at my favorite place in Germany, Lake Walchensee. On the day of arrival I called and booked a room for two and asked for one with a lake view. The lady at the other end asked carefully if we were really coming because she would heat the room, which I said yes ;-). What followed was definitely one of my and our highlights in recent years. On the pass road up from Kochel the snow cover grew thicker and thicker until we rolled along the west bank of the Walchensee at low speed in the thick snowstorm, only disturbed by one or the other foreign vehicle. When we reached the hotel, a very formal but nice, older lady greeted us with two glasses of orange juice, the check-in was quick. We got room 1, as it turned out, with a direct view of the lake! The house is very spacious and has certainly seen its best. In contrast to many cheap hotels, you can see that the room furnishings cost a lot of money many years ago and that it has its own very weird style. I understand those who chalk up a renovation that is due, we really liked the morbid charm created by the old, worn but somehow stylish furniture! The room was warm, clean, the mattress comfortable and the view in the morning (between the snow showers ;-)) phenomenal! The kind of hotel reminded me of the now unfortunately closed Hotel Bellevue on the Furka Pass in Switzerland and I enjoyed this stay very much! The breakfast was maybe nothing special but the lady of the house was posh, reserved, friendly, caring and went perfectly with it. In any case, we both got full ;-). I've spent a lot of nights in hotels, from 5-star bunkers in Dubai to cheap hotels in the German hinterland, but rarely has everything worked out as well as it did here. The journey in the snow, the morbid charm, the knowledge that you are one of only a few people in the area at that moment, the quirky couple who run the house and of course the absolutely magnificent Walchensee right outside the door! Certainly not a place for everyone but we will definitely be back!

This place has seen better days, however if you're looking for affordable lodging in a pinch (like you get rained out of camping) then this place isn't bad. Just recommend you walk down the road if you're looking for decent food.

sadly I cannot put zero stars. The food was really bad (e.g. practically no chesse in kaesespetzle.) The service was really bad too and unfriendly.

Place is dark, under-maintained and generally mismanaged. A beaten car permanently parked right into the main entrance says it all.

We stopped over here after an amazing hike through a few peaks. We were hungry and thirsty... And they covered the bare needs. The waiters were not particularly helpful or friendly and the soup was average, plenty salty. Schwaigerhof was probably in its prime a few decades ago... Now needing younger owners and a touch of care.

I dont why the rating is so bad, but I loved it! Food is really delicious! Fish is fresh from the lake nearby. I would recommend!

Really not worth a visit. My Cordon Bleu was the worst I ever had, the fresh fish was ok but overall the dishes are below minimum what we could see around us! Sorry guys but you need to improve massively.
